Jamal Saghir

Jamal Saghir is an economist. With over 25 years of experience at the World Bank Group directing various departments, he has deep expertise in a broad range of sectors, including energy and infrastructure, water, transport, agriculture and rural development, environment, and climate change. He is currently Professor of Practice at the Institute for the Study of International Development at McGill University, Canada; Senior Advisor to the President and Chief Executive Officer of Global Center on Adaptation, The Netherlands; Distinguished Fellow for Economics and Development at the Institute of Financial Economics/American University of Beirut; and Senior Fellow at the Payne Institute, Colorado School of Mines. He is also Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Climate/SDGs Debt Swap Mechanism at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia.

Jamal also serves on several corporate boards worldwide, including those of CICA S.A. (Switzerland); Blue Solutions (France); Investment and Capital Bank (Lebanon); and FFA Private Bank (Dubai). He has contributed to over 75 publications, essays, and books, and is the author of ‘Stories of a World Banker’.
