Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u

Njuguna Ndung’u is the former Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning of Kenya. He has also previously served as Executive Director of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), a leading pan-African capacity-building network. He is the immediate former Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya, where he served from 2007 to 2015. He is currently an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Nairobi, Kenya.

Njuguna is a Member of the Brookings Africa Growth Initiative Distinguished Advisory Group and of the Advisory Committee of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion, which coordinates financial inclusion policies in Africa, Asia and Latin America. He is also a Senior Advisor to the United Nations Capital Development Fund’s Better Than Cash Alliance and has previously been a member of Global Advisory Council of the World Economic Forum.
